About Me

My name is Maura Verrill, I am a Math and Secondary Education double major, also pursuing a Computer Science minor at Saint Michael's College in Colchester, Vermont. As long as I can remember I have always loved math, it simply clicked with me, which created a desire to study it more starting at a young age.  Computer science was an interest I didn't discover until college when I was exposed to the field for the first time, and was intrigued by its puzzle like nature.  Since middle school I have wanted to pursue education as I was inspired by my own teachers, and driven more towards the career path as I began babysitting and working with children. My love of math and my ability to work well with children work together nicely to pursue the career of a secondary education math teacher.
I am originally from North Yarmouth, Maine, where I spend my summers working at a summer camp for ages five to twelve. At school I am involved in Little Brother Little Sister, a one on one mentoring program, Residential Housing Association, which works to plan activities on campus, and Student Association, the student governing body on campus. I also participate in intramural sports, and am a member of the honors program. I enjoy being active, playing and watching sports, as well as doing anything outside.  In particular I love ice hockey and skiing, which makes me a winter enthusiast, embracing the cold weather of both Vermont and Maine.
